Healthcare Assistant

Carry out care duties for the resident as stated in the Care Plan as devised by the nursing staff. Meet the care needs of each individual resident, ensuring privacy and dignity, respect, and choice. Assist and support the Activities Co-ordinator in providing activities for individual residents and groups. Assist in creating a stimulating environment for residents. Be aware of HIQA standards and ensure working practices are compliant. Be sensitive to the emotional / psychological / spiritual needs of the resident and family. Ensure safe moving and handling, using equipment provided. Report to staff nurse an account of care given to residents in order that they may record it in the residents nursing notes. Advise the nursing staff immediately of any significant changes / deterioration in the patient's condition. Advise the staff nurse immediately if any written or verbal complaints are received from patients/ families, or any accident or untoward incidents that may occur. Assist in keeping the nursing home clean and tidy and maintaining a safe working environment. Ensure adequate stocks of linen and supplies and report low stocks to nursing staff. Always ensure good infection control practices. Escort and chaperone residents when necessary. Attend and participate in team meetings.
