Sheet Metal Worker

Sheet metal workers use sheet metal to make and repair sheet metal products and components for roofs, ducts for heating, ventilation and air-conditioning, gutters and other metal structures. They read plans and determine the type and amount of materials to be used, then measure, bend, cut, shape, and attach pieces of sheet metal to create the required structure. =>Essential Knowledge: metal joining technologies, metal thermal conductivity, rivet types, types of metal =>Essential Skills and Competences: align components, apply arc welding techniques, apply spot welding techniques, clip sheet metal objects together, follow health and safety procedures in construction, follow safety procedures when working at heights, inspect construction supplies, interpret 2D plans, interpret 3D plans, operate handheld riveting equipment, recognise signs of corrosion, tend metal sawing machine, use metalworking tools, use safety equipment in construction, use sheet metal shears, work ergonomically Optional Knowledge: cutting technologies, metal smoothing technologies.
